Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about running Quewy in your shop.

How does the virtual queue actually work?
Your clients join the queue by scanning a QR code at the shop or tapping a web link, with no download needed to join. They see their position and an estimated wait time in real time, so they can nip off for a coffee or some shopping instead of sitting on your bench. When they're nearly up, Quewy sends them a text telling them to head back. You see the whole queue on your dashboard and call the next person when a chair frees up.
How long does it take to set up?
Quewy is designed for speed. You can have your shop live and your first QR code printed in less than 10 minutes. There's no complex software to install — it's all web-based. Create your account, add your services and stylists, and you're ready to go.
Do I need any special hardware?
Nope! Quewy works on any device with a browser. Most shops use an iPad or tablet at the front desk, but you can manage everything right from your phone. All you need is a way to display a QR code for clients to scan — even a printed poster does the job.
What if my clients are old school?
No problem at all. You can manually add walk-in clients to the queue from your dashboard. They'll still receive SMS updates, but they don't have to scan anything or use a smartphone if they don't want to. Quewy adapts to however your clients prefer to wait.
Can I customise the wait times?
Yes. You can set average times for different services — haircut, beard trim, skin fade, whatever you offer — and even adjust them on the fly if things are running faster or slower than usual. The queue recalculates automatically so clients always see an honest estimate.
How much does Quewy cost?
The Standard plan is £35/month and includes unlimited queue entries, up to 5 stylist profiles, SMS notifications, and basic analytics. Right now we're offering an Early Adopter plan at just £15/month — locked in before public launch — with beta feature access and priority support. That price stays with you for as long as you're subscribed.
Do walk-ins and appointments work together?
Absolutely. Quewy runs your virtual walk-in queue alongside your booked appointments — they don't clash. When a client books a fixed time slot, Quewy accounts for that chair being occupied and adjusts the walk-in queue accordingly. No double-booking, no awkward overlaps, no confusion at the front desk.
How do notifications work, and what do they cost?
Most updates reach your clients as free in-app push notifications. For the moment that matters most — “you're up next, they're expecting you” — we also send an SMS, so nobody misses their turn even with the app closed. Notifications are included in every plan and covered by your monthly price; there's no per-message charge to you.
Can I manage multiple stylists or chairs?
Yes. The Standard plan supports up to 5 stylist profiles, each with their own queue and pace settings. You can see who's cutting who, how long each chair has been occupied, and reassign clients between stylists with a tap. Whether you've got two chairs or ten, the dashboard keeps everything organised.
Can I export my customer data?
Of course — it's your data, not ours. You can export your queue history, client details, and analytics to CSV at any time. We don't lock you in. If you ever decide Quewy isn't right for your shop, you can walk away with everything intact.
How does Quewy help reduce no-shows?
Quewy sends automated SMS reminders when a client's turn is approaching, so they know exactly when to head in — no guesswork, no forgetting. Most no-shows aren't deliberate; a nudge at the right time brings a lot of people back. Clients can also reply with 'running late' directly from the text, and you'll see it on your dashboard instantly.
Do my clients need to download an app?
Not at all. Clients can join through a QR code or a link that opens in their phone's browser instantly, with nothing to download and no account to create. There's also a Quewy app if they'd rather keep it on their home screen and get a nudge when they're near the front. If they can open a web page, they can use Quewy.
What happens if a client doesn't show up?
If a client doesn't arrive when their turn comes up, you can skip them in the queue with a single tap and call the next person. The no-show client gets a polite text letting them know they've been moved. If they turn up later, you can pop them back in without starting from scratch. You stay in full control of the queue at all times.
Can I use Quewy across multiple shop locations?
Each Quewy account manages one shop location with its own queue, stylists, and branding. If you run multiple shops, get in touch — we're working on multi-location support and can set you up early. For now, each location runs independently, which keeps things simple and clean.
